New Guild Ladder
Arenanet has updated the Guild Ladder to display a lot more information about each individual guild, as well as the overall ladder.
Good stuff, and I'm glad to see them focusing attention on PvP-specific features.

Was thinking exactly the same JR. Add in a win/loss chart on the GW site and you wouldn't be able to tell 'em apart.

This is nice stuff, sure took a while to make this.
Hehe wow 62% of ladders guilds are European, 28% are American. I dont see why they dont just merge the 3 Asian territories to one server, the Asian server. The 3 of them combined only make up 10% of the guilds on the ladder. When was the last time Taiwan has had favor lol, it would be easier for them in that way and such.

I still kindof wished you were able to see who other guids have played.

same; though teams at the top of the ladder wind up playing a lot of crap teams considering they wind up playing a lot more gvgs than others.
I'm also confused by the ladder due to the rollback, as I'm not sure how that affected things and nothing I've seen really made it clear.

And not only is flagrant plagiarism, it isn't even as good as iQ's. Bad PR for anet all the way around as far as I am concerned.
To see the changes from the rollback, just look at the guild history. Here is star, who exploited the skill most visibly.
http://www.guildwars.com/competitive/ladder/show_guild.php?guid={49418F72-5D94-4933-8D95-01CED7FD5D4B}
Note the spike in rank and steady drop since then. Unlike iQ's original ladder, the anet clone doesn't say negative win/loss and it only updates once a day (iQ is twice), but it has the same info.

I should note that the site claims to have a historic ladder....
though in actuallity all it entails is a photo of page 1 of the previous few seasons. Not searchable, only 20 guilds appear, no historic data analysis as far as percentages, rank rating over time etc....
www.team-iq.net is still the standby imo, though it's nice to see some sort of effort to make an informative ladder similar to a fansite's FROM THE COMPANY THAT MAKES THE GAME.

It would still be nicier if they would make additional ladders showing a ranking according to the region. Right now, you can sort by territory but you need to count by hand at which position in a region your guild is exactly.

Bad PR, for providing more functionality?
Yeah, team-iq's ladder is the defacto, but really saying that it is bad PR for anet is a bit sensational.
Imitation really is one of the truest forms of flattery.

The new ladder page is nice.
I'm wondering how the page gets its data. It really looks like it's done the same way as iQ's ladder : Parse the "old" ladder page, with no direct access to the game data.
Would mean that we won't see more stats, like maps played etc...

I would love to see that, but more likely than not releasing the information would simply allow guilds to figure better times to play so that they don't run into the high-ranked teams.

I think anyone who has played this game competitively for any period of time understands that there are certain times of day when you can farm points very easily and certain times when points are hard to come by. 8am-6pm GMT for example is a great time to get easy points especially on weekdays (as long as you are prepared for longish waits between fights), and from midnight-2am GMT the same again. I have noticed from obs mode that there are quite a few very high ranked teams who only play during these windows. Makes you wonder what their rank would be if they played either during EU or US peak hours.
I dont think a regional ladder would change much in this regard
